It is unfortunate the quality of the binding doesn't match the content. Often field guides provide pictures or graphics that don't always link well with the text, that is not the case with this book as what is written is easily seen in the images.

The content is very good it is well written and easy to understand what is being discussed. This was purchased as a field guide to accompany a trip to northern Minnesota, but given the poor quality of the binding it probably wouldn't survive the car trip getting there. We were not pressing the book flat or pushing pages back, simply flipping through pages and sections. After the book arrived we thumbed through it and immediately noticed the thin layer of glue in the back binding was already beginning to separate individual groupings of pages were visibly pulling apart from the others.
